A LOCAL operatic society has been given the opportunity to play a very special concert.

Seven members of the Three Towns Operatic Society, based in Leigh, Atherton and Tyldesley, have been selected to perform at the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in Buxton and Harrogate.

Bryony Wilmington, Victoria Goulden, and her sister Rebecca, a former member of the society, will play the parts of the Three Little Maids in the production of The Mikado on August 14 at Buxton Opera House.

Tony Meehan will appear in The Quaker Girl on August 21, also at Buxton.

Eileen Reeves, David Kay, Colin Magenty and Kerry Casey will appear on August 26 at Harrogate Theatre in the operetta Die Fledermaus, with Victoria and Bryony performing in the supporting chorus.

The society are now rehearsing for their annual Autumn Concert on November 16 and 17 at Lowton Civic Hall.
