An ‘emulsional’ experience

PLENTY of Britons will be buckling down to a weekend of DIY this Easter.

In fact Easter promises to be an ‘emulsional’ experience for the country’s millions of DIY enthusiasts, with an estimated 1.2 million litres of white emulsion paint set to be sold.

While the focus is often on the mass exodus of folk trying to get away for a break on clogged motorways or at crowded airports, the reality is that more Britains will be staying home doing up their property.

The nation’s pride in their home has developed to a near obsession for constant house improvement and change, and Easter traditionally marks the beginning of the domestic DIY season.

But it’s not just painting – we are already a nation of increasing DIY ‘sophisticates’.

B&Q is expecting to sell more than 130 miles of wooden decking and enough iron garden benches to stretch the 26 odd miles of the famous London Marathon. We also take Easter as the opportunity to shed more light on our homes. Over 930,000 light bulbs will be snapped up at stores across the country.

If the warm weather continues, planting will also be the order of the Easter weekend – with more than 150,000 grow bags being bought and an amazing 20 million early Spring bedding plants gracing our garden borders by the end of the holiday.
